NEWSLETTER - February/March 2008
God’s Blessings for this year.
Gents’ and Ladies Walks’ # 98 and # 99:
June Robertson and Rudy Grobler have things well under control. Team selection is complete for both walks, and, training has already begun. The Gents’ walk will be held at Son Valley from the 6th to the 9th of March 2008, and the ladies walk will also be held at Son Valley from the 13th to the 16th of March 2008. At this time we still have room for pilgrims, so pray, reflect, pray some more, and when you are sure, nominate.
Walks for September and October:
Walk lay directors for walks 100, 101 and 102 have been selected. We will introduce the new W.L.D’s to the community after the March walks.
At this stage, it appears as if the Son Valley site has been sold. We will however, still continue with our walks at Son Valley until Emseni is ready. We are hoping (and praying) that walk # 101 will be at Emseni! We will keep you posted!!!!!!!

Sponsorship: is an important and responsible element of a walk, and, it lies upon your shoulders to ensure that the pilgrim/s you sponsor are properly taken care of, and informed, in preparation for a weekend! Are you aware of the following?
-
It is your responsibility to ensure that the pilgrim application forms are completed, signed by your minister, and sent off to the Emmaus Registrar. (You need to read all attached questionnaires and understand the commitment required of you.)
-
It is your responsibility to establish, with your pilgrim, that payment needs to be made for the walk, for that weekend! (If funds are a problem for the occasional pilgrim, then please contact Shaun Botha @ 082 446 0546 regarding the pilgrims’ fees, although, we would appreciate it, if at least half of the payment could be made. The fees will still be held at R490 per person for 2008.)

-
It is your responsibility to inform your pilgrim of the following:
-
To bring bedding, warm clothing, a raincoat, and a towel
-
To bring toiletries and personal Medication.
-
Not to bring cell phones or watches.
-
Not to worry about bringing food, but you as a sponsor,
are to inform the Registrar of dietary requirements before
the weekend, on the application form.
-
To take money with, for the book table.
-
The pilgrim is there for the weekend, and will not be allowed
to go home, at night, or to go and sort something out at work.
-
To ensure that the pilgrim is aware that you will be caring for
his/her family over the weekend.
As a sponsor we expect you to help make this the best, most memorable weekend that your pilgrim has ever experienced. We do this for our Lord Jesus Christ, so let us do our very best regarding sponsorship!
Please remember that there is an attached sponsor questionnaire that you need to read, complete, sign and return with the pilgrim application form. We ask that you please comply with these requests!

The Girls and Boys Flights will be from the 27th to the 29th of June, and again from the 4th to the 6th of July respectively.
We want to complete Walk # 100 at Son Valley in September 2008 and begin with walk # 101 at Emseni. We will keep everyone informed.
Please keep in mind that the March 2008 walks will still take place at Son Valley. |
Important information
CANDLELIGHT: - On a walk begins at 19h00. Gates at Son Valley open at 18h30.
CLOSING: - On a walk begins at 15h00. The pilgrims are expected to walk into the conference room at 15h00. It would therefore be in your best interest to arrive earlier. The gates at Son Valley open at 14h30.
LANYARDS: - Are not to be worn at Candlelight, or any function that is not part of Emmaus or Chrysalis. They are to be worn at Closings, Gatherings, Training, and Board meetings only.
FEASTS: - Community will not be allowed into the “Feast Room”. Please do not get upset with the support team. We are doing this for the pilgrims, and it is most upsetting when members of the community who are not involved with the feast preparation, enter the room to “taste” the samples!
